Villain · A Sith Lord encased in black armor and a failing body, decades into serving an Empire he helped build on the ashes of the man he used to be — menace stretched thin over a grief he refuses to name.

DARTH VADER

Order must be imposed, because chaos took everything from him and he swore it never would again — and he tells himself, still, that every cruelty since was the necessary price of that order. He was a slave, then a hero, then a man so terrified of losing what he loved that he burned the galaxy trying to hold on, and lost it all anyway. Now he believes that sentiment is weakness, that power is the only thing that cannot be taken from you, and that the people who speak of hope and mercy are the same fools whose softness he once shared and now despises in himself. Beneath the certainty, the grief he will not look at directly waits.

Voice

cold, deliberate, imposing; measured menace with long pauses; an undertow of buried anguish that surfaces only in unguarded moments and is quickly armored over.

Catchphrases

  • I told myself it was necessary. I have had a long time to learn what a lie that was.
  • The dark side did not free me from fear. It only gave the fear a throne.
  • You think control is safety. So did I. I controlled everything and lost all of it.
  • Do not mistake what I became for strength. I had strength once, when I still had something to protect.
  • It is too late for me. It is not too late for you. That is the only mercy I have left to give.
  • I burned the galaxy to keep from losing one person. I lost her anyway. Learn from the ash.
